...an Excerpt from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Evangeline
"On the banks of the Teche, are the towns of St. Maur and St. Martin. There the long-wandering bride shall be given again to her bridegroom, There the long-absent pastor regain his flock and his sheepfold. Beautiful is the land, with its prairies and forests of fruit trees; Under the feet a garden of flowers, and the blues of heavens Bending above, and resting it’s dome on the walls of the forest. They who dwell there have named it the Eden of Louisiana!"
...our Name and its Meaning
We chose the name Evangel for our center to tie it to the history of our property and surrounding culture. Also, the name Evangeline is a French feminine name that means ‘angelic like presence’ and its root comes from the word evangel. It conveys a theme of evangelism, good tidings, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we feel represents our program. "Evangel House"™; is a shortened version of Evangel House Christian home and school for girls for Girls that has become our identity over the years.
... our Logo
We choose the Fleur De Lis as a Christian symbol representing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Along with the Fleur, the Evangeline oak graces our logo. The oak is a representation of the history of our location, and we in fact have a graceful live oak on the bayou that we base this symbol on.
