Our Church
- Evangel House™ residents attend church to help facilitate a healthy Spiritual Life
Evangel House™ strives to create a non-denominational Biblical foundation for teens to take back to their home environment, and then integrate with their home church. Our goal is to allow a genuine encounter with Jesus Christ, from which an authentic life change emerges. To facilitate this, as part of the program structure, our residents attend Sunday and Wednesday meetings at the church that originally helped to start the program ten years ago.
- Pastor Tommy and Lisa Faulk
Rev.
and Mrs. Faulk are senior pastors Lafayette First Assembly of God Church. Pastor and Mrs.
Faulk have been involved in family counseling ministries at Lafayette First for
over nine years. Pastor Faulk is an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of
God, and has been involved in ministry for over 15 years. Pastor and Mrs. Faulk
bring a dynamic perspective to our family retreat, and present workshops on
biblical perspectives in family dynamics. They are presenters at our
family retreats in May & October. The Faulks have two children, Tommy Jr. and
Lehia.
We strive to create conditions that allow for them to develop their spiritual life on their own, yet we support them in it. One way we accomplish this is we set clear boundaries between the church and the program. We don't try to be your daughter's pastor or youth pastor. Rather, we work closely with the staff of Lafayette First Church to take those roles in her life. For example, Evangel House™ staff will never pray with your daughter at a church service altar time. They are encouraged to pray with the Pastors in that situation. They are encouraged, but they are given no special rewards for participating. Likewise, expectations are not placed upon them. This helps them to feel safe in experimenting with spirituality, and it gives them the freedom to worship without feeling watched. The Pastoral staff are available to meet with them during the week if they have particular questions for them. And they develop meaningful relationships with the pastoral staff.
